The Whistler Natural Cask Strength 7 Year

The initial pours were incredible. I'm eager to see how it evolves. On the nose, there's immediate warm brown sugar with very little to no phenolic smells. It's quite surprising that at 59% ABV, I could detect this aroma for so long. After the first sip, the faintest hint of fruit emerges. When proofed down, a peppery note overlays the brown sugar, making the nose seem brighter overall. On the palate, there's a slightly sweet, deep woodiness followed by a malty sweetness that's reminiscent of the buttery note found in pot still Irish whiskey. It finishes with a very inviting warmth rather than the spicy heat I expected. The high ABV becomes apparent at the end of the finish with a phenolic taste lingering in the throat. The palate doesn't change significantly on the second sip; you're just more prepared for the woody richness. It's so delicious and warming that I'm reluctant to add water, but I must for the sake of science. After proofing down, it begins with a rich creaminess, allowing the wood notes to express themselves more distinctly while remaining within the creaminess. The warm finish has subsided, and a soft, creamy brown sugar sensation warms the back of the throat. Phenomenal whisky. Dangerously delicious.

Intense heat with prolonged warmth, leather on the nose, hints of wine, raisins, fruit, apricots, lemon, and lime. It cools after a fiery beginning. A velvety mouthfeel with some banana skin notes. A substantial whiskey and my finest one tasted blind to date, from 05/20/20.

I appreciate the intensity of this spirit. Adding water brought out honey and other pleasant sweet scents in the aroma. The flavor is also wonderful and sweet. This whisky is quite like Jack Daniels Honey, but not overly sweet.

Certainly enjoyed it; it's somewhat light with a kick but well-rounded. A solid choice for an Irish whiskey. I would purchase it again. A friend, Brooke, really liked it too!

My menu doesn't indicate cask strength, but if this is the same, wow. Very good.

Tasted the 10-year-old version. Slightly spicier with a long finish. A decent whiskey.
