I didn't have high expectations when I purchased this bottle. I figured it would be one of those bottles I keep around not for its sophisticated character (like Ardbeg 10, Redbreast Lustau, or Russell Reserve), but for those occasions when a hefty pour and a Guinness Extra Stout would be just enough to keep me tipsy but not inebriated (I have a high tolerance). And it still serves that purpose for getting tipsy – BUT it might be the best one for that. What struck me most was the smokiness of this whiskey. For $40, it's worth trying. Bottled at 46%, no water is needed.

Quite enjoyable. It bears a strong resemblance to the P.X. I slightly prefer the P.X. due to its more pronounced brown sugar notes, which complement the raisin and fig flavors beautifully. While I detect fruit here, the sugar isn't as prominent. Nevertheless, it's very good and reasonably priced. There's a subtle, unusual funkiness at the start, similar to the P.X., but it dissipates quickly.
