Jenifer Dale 5.0

The nose is rich, beginning with a blend of recently lacquered antique oak furniture and caramel apple, followed by high-end dark chocolate truffles, figgy pudding, and candied almonds. Then come orange blossom honey, caramelized peaches, and pear tarte tatin, transitioning into spices like star anise, cardamom, dusty leather-bound books, and old polished oak, with a moderate ethanol burn. The taste is rich and velvety, starting with old antique oak furniture, a hint of minerality, and caramel apple, followed by dark chocolate torte, stewed plums, freeze-dried grapes, and candied almonds. Then come orange hard candies, poached pears, and Morello cherry pie, transitioning into spices like star anise, cardamom, dusty leather-bound books, and old polished oak, with a moderate ethanol burn. The finish is long, with dark chocolate, dehydrated figs, mandarin oranges, light minerality, poached pears, flaky puff pastry, and spices like star anise, cardamom, dusty leather-bound books, and old polished oak, lingering for minutes. This is simply incredible, with a nose that presents those old dusty oak notes alongside earthy dark chocolate, citrus, nuts, and spices. This carries over to the taste with a velvety, rich mouthfeel, adding notes of cake and dark berries, finishing long with that old, balanced oak as all the notes from the nose and taste combine in an encore before fading after a few minutes. These bottles appear to cost over $2300, which removes any value-for-money consideration, but you certainly get an amazing whisky. I am very thankful to have tasted a 1oz sample, but that cost is far more than I would want to pay for a repeat tasting.
