You can tell this is a top-tier whiskey just by looking at the bottle. It was certainly the case here. This out-of-production bottle is only available online and costs a lot, but it's worth every penny. Bottled at 40% ABV with a tawny hue. Nose: Fantastic! Cough syrup, brown sugar, toasted caramel, orange candy, lemon, some floral hints, and crème brûlée. Palate: ALSO fantastic. Tobacco, ashes, oranges, a pleasantly smooth texture, old wood, almonds, and a very long, mouth-watering finish. Elegant, VERY VERY ELEGANT, which explains the "elegancia" name. Overall: 100 out of 100. Absolutely stunning, potent, refined, fragrant, and magical. If you can find it, buy it. Cheers.

About this bottle
The Macallan Elegancia, a 12-year-old single malt, was exclusively available through travel retail from 2002 until 2009. Its maturation utilized a mix of ex-fino and ex-Oloroso casks, diverging from the distillery's standard practice of using only ex-Oloroso sherry casks. This bottling is seen as a forerunner to Macallan's Fine Oak series, which began in the early 2000s and combined spirits aged in ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks. Fino sherry, a lighter variety compared to Oloroso, is less commonly used in Scotch whisky production. The whisky is bottled at 40% ABV.

Smooth, vanilla, and oaky on the nose, which is lighter than the taste. A very easy drinker. It still has the same dry, ash-like aftertaste as the current Macallan. I enjoy it.
A lot of aged wood upfront, masking a sweet mix that leaves a lasting peppery sensation.
1992, bottled 2004. Sweet sherry and oak, with a good length to the finish.
After two additional years of aging, the result is outstanding.
Extremely smooth
