The Irishman Single Malt

This is a truly fantastic single malt whiskey that I'm very happy I purchased. It ranks among the best Irish whiskeys of any kind I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. It possesses a richer flavor than any other Irish whiskey I've encountered so far. It presents a sweet, fruity aroma and an initial taste of vanilla, which mellows into a nutty mid-palate with a touch of wood at the conclusion. This is a genuinely delightful drink. I've tried it neat and on the rocks, and I absolutely would not mix it with anything. Absolutely not. (Feel free to do as you please, it's your bottle.) I can't praise this whiskey enough; it's what I imagine excellent whiskey should be. On a personal note, this whiskey holds a solemn significance for me. I opened my bottle with a friend from the Army the day he had to put his Airedale Terrier Luc down, and we consumed about half the bottle discussing life and how much better dogs make it. Cheers.

It's the last night with cool, but not cold, weather on the horizon. The Advent calendar offered this delightful dram, which is a fine companion for a chilly evening. It has the typical characteristics of an Irishman: a variety of fruity notes and aromas, woody spice (distinctly woody, with enough barrel char to make it obvious), a honey-like texture, and a touch of vanilla. It's not complicated, and I wish the finish lasted longer (like those perfect early winter nights), but it's a solid, dependable spirit worthy of my heritage. At the very least, it will warm you up after a long walk to the end of your driveway.

This is a very fine single malt Irish whisky. Proof66 indicates it is 10 years old, which might have been accurate previously. However, neither the bottle nor their website currently states an age. Regardless, this whisky is very delicious. Served neat, it has a smooth malt character and a subtle hint of sherry from a few barrels, adding a delicate richness. I found my bottles on sale for $35, which is a great price for this Irish malt. If you have to pay $50-55, I believe there are better options. Nevertheless, it is very tasty and smooth. I will buy it again when the price is right.

A well-crafted Irish whiskey with a malty sweetness, enhanced by a secondary sherry cask finish. It has a medium-light body, creating an overall impression of a welcoming and somewhat breakfast-appropriate spirit. The palate presents notes of freshly baked pancakes with almonds and a drizzle of honey, balanced by a slight tannic and oaky presence. The finish is medium-long, concluding with hints of baked apple and dark cherry. A superb whiskey that truly warrants broader recognition.

It's not the first time I've encountered an Irish whisky that was highly praised by shopkeepers as exceptional, only to find it offers a faint, subtle flavor. I anticipate a lively experience but instead perceive a quiet, subdued taste. Perhaps this whisky is pleasant... But I simply cannot detect its nuances (and no, I don't smoke and my sense of taste is excellent).

The nose is rather delicate. Sugary notes of vanilla and caramel. Hints of orchard fruit. On tasting, I found the fruitiness lacking, which I've experienced with every release from this distillery I've sampled. Sweetness comes first, followed by warming spices. A touch of cocoa appears just before swallowing. The finish lingers, offering some dryness and nutty notes. Adding water makes the palate too thin, and the lingering taste vanishes.
