Odessa Gustafson 4.3

Who came up with this name? 17 years old, bottled in 2017. I believe these are produced regularly. Nose: Let's dive in. Coffee, dark chocolate, oak, smoked oak, chocolate oak, creme brulee, vanilla, nutmeg, mild spice, more chocolate. All this hits upfront, then there's a lighter, airy, almost marshmallow middle, and finally, a return to spiced oak and chocolate. Muted jams, honey, sugar, and fruits are also mixed in. Taste: It's dark, spicy, rich, very dark... so much chocolate. There's barrel, vanilla, burnt vanilla, French vanilla, chocolate pudding, creme brulee, and frankly... the best description I can give is the center of a Tootsie Pop. As you savor it, you notice jam, fruitcake, and all these fruity elements emerging. I think the sample a friend shared was slightly better, but this is darker, more chocolatey, more cake-like, and just RICH. I'm loving this and I loved that sample. I can't say all of them are identical in profile, other than they're all epic. 4.25... I might reconsider that score, but for now... yes, we're talking about a $400-500 whiskey quality! Approximately 200 EUR or 240 USD for a 700 ml bottle.
