About this bottle

Glenrothes placed this whisky in a barrel in 1985 and initially bottled it in 1997 as a 12-year-old. The remaining spirit was then allowed to mature for an additional 8 years. This second release, having aged until May 2005, is therefore a 20-year-old whisky.

Marci Tang 4.5

Nose: Sweet nuts, golden raisins, freshly pressed sweet apple juice, Marcona almonds, sweet tropical fruits. Taste: Creamy ginger heat/tingle, tropical fruit gummies, pineapple, golden raisins, rich fruity apple juice with a creamy coconut milk texture. Finish: Tropical fruits, pineapples, cooked bananas, that slight tang at the end like eating longan, golden raisins. Score: 93/100 Final Thoughts: The nose on this is absolutely phenomenal. It's a tropical fruit explosion despite the lower 43% ABV, yet it delivers so much flavor and balance. It presents as a sweet tropical gummy with a wonderfully rich, balanced, and creamy coconut milk mouthfeel, though without a strong coconut milk flavor. It's hard to describe, but I feel like I could sip this all day and discover new notes each time. Would I drink it if offered? - Yes Would I specifically order it? - Yes Would I buy a bottle? - Yes NOTE - All reviews are done without factoring in price.
