This is a very nice single malt, but I expected much more given the price and age. The finish is very light, possibly due to the 40% alcohol content. Nothing about it was particularly memorable. I'll try it again when I have company so I can get another perspective. Perhaps I wasn't in the right frame of mind, or maybe my expectations were just too high. I'd much prefer some of my other aged single malts. My current favorite is Bushmills 21, which feels much richer and more balanced than this 40-year-old. I was expecting something more akin to that.

Smooth, yet it has more of a kick than anticipated for a 40-year-old scotch. Wonderful flavor in the end and a fantastic value compared to a typical Glenlivet 40-year-old bottle!
