The Glendronach 2009 PX Single Cask

So, I was visiting the Glendronach, and suddenly the staff there (working on a Sunday) decided to pour some pretty amazing whiskies for me and my group from Ecuador. They actually gave us five whiskies during our tour; which we now realize was a tactic to get us really excited and then make us buy out the entire shop afterwards. Spoiler alert: They succeeded in that objective. The first one we tried was a 2009 single PX cask, bottled at 59.3% ABV. Naturally, this was going to be incredible. On the nose, an amazing chocolate, red berries, hazelnut, and marzipan were the initial aromas. After a first taste, it shifted to Danish cookies, more hazelnut, and even more chocolate. On the palate, Pedro Ximenez was the star: Raisins, figs, dates, and a sweet blackberry juice. Fantastic. The aftertaste was perfect. A super enjoyable and powerful blend of red and black berries, chocolate; specifically Ritter's Dark Chocolate. Overall, this was nearly a five-star dram, earning an overwhelming 97 points in my scoring system. Well, that wasn't too surprising considering all these words were together on the label: "Glendronach", "Single Cask", "PX", "59.3% ABV". Truly wonderful, cheers!
