Aroma: intense, dark, and earthy sherry, sweet caramel, strong oak. Taste: powerful sherry, dark stewed fruit. Plum. Candied walnut. Cinnamon and mild baking spice. Syrupy, sweet, but not overpowering for being exclusively aged in oloroso. Finish: drying and oaky, with a subtle hint of dark fruit. Leather.

About this bottle
Launched in 2007, this limited edition from The Balvenie was aged for seventeen years entirely in first-fill Oloroso sherry barrels. While The Balvenie often employs ex-sherry casks for finishing its DoubleWood range, exclusively sherry cask maturation is a less frequent approach for the distillery. This single malt honors the Spanish heritage of its cask cooperage while maintaining a characteristically Scottish profile. It is presented at 43% alcohol by volume.

Balvenie 15: This is truly wonderful. The aroma suggests toasted caramel. It's sweet and peppery, with a remarkably long and smooth finish. I find it hard to believe this isn't a premium bourbon.
The aroma offers sherry notes and a fresh sea breeze. The palate is sweet and briny, with hints of sherry and vanilla. It finishes with an aldehydic quality on the palate, yet it is well-balanced. Outstanding.
Slightly sweet. Excellent aroma.
