Texas Silver Star Spirit Whiskey

Smooth blended whiskey. It has a light color. It lacks the deep, rich flavors found in scotch whisky. There's a hint of spice and oak with vanilla on the finish. It's balanced, suitable for those who prefer drinking it neat without a harsh burn. Adding water, ice, or using it in a mixed drink causes the whiskey's flavor to nearly vanish. I had anticipated a richer flavor profile, similar to the offerings from a fellow Texas whiskey producer, Balcones, but this doesn't measure up.

I appreciate everything Texas, but this one falls short. Pungent and irritating to the back of the throat. Almost has a tequila aftertaste.

Tastes of fresh-cut grass... not the profile I look for in bourbon from Texas. I won't be purchasing this again, my apologies to my friends.

A great locally produced spirit. An impressive debut on the market.
