The aroma bursts with the scent of dried leather, then settles into a deep honey at the end. As the nose concludes and invites tasting, a subtle hint of grape/dried fruit emerges as the glass is moved away for the first sip and subsequent tastes. Multiple scents bring the honey and grape forward more prominently while the leather fades. The palate features sweet grape wine upfront, blended with the honey flavors familiar to most bourbon drinkers, continuing all the way to the finish. Upon conclusion, an explosion of spearmint appears. This spicy, minty finish is brief but appropriate for this seemingly straightforward bottle. The most intriguing aspect of this glass is the grape-forward nose and palate, before the honey takes over.
