Texas Crown Club Ultra Premium

I tried the Colorado Crown Club, which came in a distinctive Colorado flag bag. It's the same spirit as this one, just relabeled for the state where it's sold. Several states receive this treatment. You're primarily purchasing the packaging. The spirit itself was unremarkable. It had a gasoline scent when poured but was reasonably smooth when chilled. I liked the bag, and it was worth trying, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Texas Crown Club Ultra Premium initially presents harsh aromas of grain alcohol, mold, and oak. The entry is sweet, with a palate of subtle vanilla. The finish is excessively sweet, punctuated by a surge of bitter oak and baking spices. The overwhelming sweetness is a disqualifying factor. It's not enjoyable either straight or mixed.

This is a whiskey for when you're on a budget. It's exceptionally smooth, and you can definitely detect a hint of caramel on your palate. It's not my first choice for a budget whiskey, but if it's the only option available, I'll drink it.

This is the first and hopefully final bottle of this whiskey that I poured down the drain. The marketing tactic with the Texas flag cloth sack got me to buy it. I couldn't even give this stuff away.

Sweet and a bit nutty. The flavor is decent; I wouldn't give it an award, but I don't regret trying it. It strongly smells of acetone. I don't understand why a Canadian whisky focuses so much on Texas.

A solid product. Wonderful taste, and I appreciate collecting those Texas bags. Likely the finest and most mellow whisky available for twenty dollars.
