About this bottle

This navy-strength gin utilizes a different botanical profile than the distillery's London Dry Gin. Grains of paradise and cubeb berry have been omitted, while cassia bark and fresh lime and grapefruit peel have been added. Bottled at 114 proof, this is considered the brand's "fiction masterpiece."

Pedro East 4.0

Clear, with thin legs in the glass. Strong juniper with citrus and citrus peel on the nose. Juniper is present but citrus dominates the palate. The mouthfeel is rather thin, and then a bitter cinchona bark/quinine flavor develops. A long, spicy, peppery, and dry finish. I really enjoy the standard Chapter One London Dry; it's one of the best all-around I've sampled. This one has the 114 proof navy strength impact, but it's missing something in its balanced flavor profile – it's somewhat thin in the mouth and then becomes spicy and bitter in the finish.
