Tekirdag Raki

Tekirdag Rakisi, 45% ABV. A premium brand of rakı made by Reni entirely from fresh grapes, distilled with high-quality anise from Çesme in traditional rakı alembics. Originally from the Tekirdağ region of Turkiye. Tasting neat and with an ice cube. Clear in the glass, leaves average coating legs. Mixes nicely with an ice cube. The aroma is anise and light floral sweetness. The palate is soft, with anise, sweet white sugar, and little ethanol or pepper. The mouthfeel is rather thin. The finish has licorice and a bit of peppery spice, then a light sour flavor that lingers along with a mouth tingle. With ice, the flavors meld and remain sweeter, with less anise. A quite refined and pleasant raki. This is my fourth Turkish Raki, and my second favorite after the basic Reni Raki, which has a thicker mouthfeel and a spicy pepper flavor in the mouth and finish.

Smooth, can be served as an appetizer before or with a meal. Pairs well with fish dishes.
