Tanqueray Sevilla Orange Gin

What is this? It tastes like Triple Sec. People must really love sugar. The sheer amount of sweetener required to make something with 40% alcohol and numerous botanicals taste like a pack of Splenda must be awful. I also see Yellow #5 listed on the bottle, along with claims of using 'Natural Flavors and Certified Colors.' What exactly is a certified color? Oh, I get it... you think I'm just another gullible fool, easily swayed by impressive-sounding jargon, right? So, this is just another deceptive marketing tactic, devoid of actual fruit or genuine innovation, merely a fancy name for the world's most common fruit and a flavor profile that would appeal to toddlers worldwide, is that it? Just more generic candy for the unthinking masses, is that what you believe we are!?!? DAMN IT!!!!! *Hulk smashes the entire kitchen*

Aroma: Jaffas (if you're not from Australia, look it up). It smells exactly like Jaffas. For everyone else: orange syrup and/or orange curacao. Taste: The initial impression is all bittersweet orange. As it develops, it expands, gradually diminishing in sweetness and spreading across the palate. A faint juniper note appears, but little else. It's rather one-dimensional. Finish: Medium/long. Sweet orange peel and faint juniper-herbal notes in the bittersweet aftertaste. This is heavily focused on Seville orange and isn't subtle, so while it's acceptable for an occasional change, you wouldn't want it to be your only gin. In fact, every time I've used this gin, I've enjoyed it but immediately grabbed a "classic" gin for my next drink. Tanqueray offers other similar flavored gins, and while they are all decent, I feel they are primarily a novelty. "Average": 77/100 (2.5 stars)

Distinctly orange on the nose and palate, with considerable sweetness and a touch of bitterness. The finish is syrupy and orange-like, with faint Tanqueray juniper notes lingering from the base spirit. A solid choice for a fruity summer beverage, particularly mixed with tonic and ice, though its singular profile prevents it from being truly exceptional. Regularly priced, though I've previously found it for as little as 16 EUR. Revised from 4.5 to 4.0 after further tasting with increased experience.

Massively disappointed. Tanqueray Gin is one of my go-to gins, alongside The Botanist, Bombay Sapphire, Beefeater Export version, and Sakurao. This Flor De Sevilla Gin seems to be attempting to compete with the unpleasant offerings from Gran Marnier and Cointreau. Sickly sweet, awful, even a Fever Tree tonic can't salvage it. Avoid. Please discontinue it.

If you see it, buy it! Better yet, get two! This is a really enjoyable gin. I picked up a couple of bottles at a European duty-free shop because they looked different from the usual offerings. It made my summer so much more delicious. Very flavorful, well-balanced, and tastes very natural. Pure happiness all around.

I was anticipating a strong orange flavor, but it was actually quite subtle, which was a welcome surprise. The orange and citrus notes are definitely present, almost like orange blossom water combined with the typical Tanqueray juniper/herbal characteristics. I find it nicely balanced. It made for a truly excellent gin and tonic on a warm summer day.
