Tamdhu 25yo Whisky Doris

A miniature of a fascinating Tamdhu was acquired. It was a 25-year-old "Whisky Doris" edition, bottled at 50.1% alcohol by volume, and these details are quite appealing. Miniatures and samples are actually utilized for sampling some seriously elusive whiskies like this one. Regarding the aroma: Red apples paired with dulce de leche. It has a beautiful scent, though slightly uncomplicated. Damp earth. Very perfumed and floral. Wood shavings. Honey and tobacco. Nougat. Remarkably fresh. The secondary aroma is a delightful sweet meringue; cleaning products and fresh linens. Peaches. A hint of salt on the nose. Chocolate with dulce de leche. On the palate, the initial taste is sweet. Caramel and lemon. Citrusy and sweet, with tobacco, salt & ginger. Some chocolate emerges later. Upon a second tasting, a significant amount of dulce de leche appeared, turning salty after about three seconds. Grapefruits and other citrus fruits were also present. The finish presents a dry wood shaving sensation. Ginger. Not exceptionally long, quite oaky, which is a descriptor I strongly dislike. It's too dry to linger. The aftertaste is pleasant but lacks complexity and clarity. The flavor notes are somewhat muddled. On the third taste, some red apples were detected. Sugary. Overall, I anticipated more from a 25-year-old cask strength Tamdhu. It still delivered some wonderful flavor and aroma notes. A dependable pour, scoring 87 out of 100.
