Tamdhu 10 Year Limited Edition

Here's another bottle that I couldn't resist opening recently: Tamdhu 10 LE. You might wonder about this 'LE' designation. Well, Tamdhu put out two 10-year-old bottlings a year or two ago to gain more market presence. One was 40% ABV, and the other was 43% ABV, intended for the UK and global markets, respectively. This Limited Edition, however, is bottled at a robust 46% ABV and comes exclusively from 100% first-fill sherry casks. Imagine taking a fresh box of Sunbeam raisins and pouring them over your preferred sherry-casked single malt, and BAM! you're very close to this amazing spirit. It's incredibly smooth, with abundant dried fruit and a hint of marshmallow. A strong woody presence balances the sweetness, though it unfortunately ends the drink quicker than I'd like. However, it's not harsh and still allows the flavors to spread throughout your palate. The price after tariffs and international shipping made the value rating quite low ($165), but it's still an excellent sherry-forward dram. I'm uncertain if it surpasses the earlier Batch Strength releases or the Dalbeallie Drams, but it's superior to the 10, 12 (and possibly 15) year olds typically found on shelves. Purchase it without hesitation. Enjoy.
