Sweet Grass Bourbon Barrel Proof

I bought this bottle on impulse, noting it was a Kentucky straight whiskey bottled in South Carolina. Nose: Abundant caramel, vanilla, and butterscotch. Initially, there was a touch of licorice and spearmint, which receded behind the sweetness as it developed. Palate: Spearmint reappears at the forefront, transitioning to clove and vanilla in the mid-palate and towards the back, with a subtle peppery spice. Finish: An initial warmth with a 'red hots' type of spice, followed by more spearmint and vanilla, lasting for a short to medium duration.
