Appearance: Lovely copper hue with widely spaced, thin, slow-moving legs. Smell: Pure Sherry influence; tastes like homemade Marsala, with cherry and dried dark fruits, specifically raisins. Notes of toffee, caramel, and dark honey. Hints of warm baking spices. Taste: Exceptionally smooth; a definite Sherry bomb. A touch earthy with a hint of roasted chestnut on the finish. Plenty of body, an oily and dense mouthfeel; deep oak notes emerge on the end. Dries out nicely. Smell after reduction: Medicinal cola syrup. Also presents herbal notes. Still carries a lot of dark, red fruit. Taste after reduction: The sweetness disperses with added water; it's slightly muted. More oaky earthiness becomes apparent. This drink is best enjoyed without dilution, allowing you to fully appreciate this cask strength whisky! It's a fantastic drink, and I intend to make it last as long as possible.
