Gonzalo Stroud 4.5

Appearance: Thick and not see-through with a lemon-cream hue. It clings to the glass significantly. Smell: Vanilla, liquorice, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, mint, and hints of honey. The aromas have a rich creaminess, and the herbal notes are very harmonious and gentle. A nicely balanced, intricate smell. Taste & Texture: Gentle baking spices covered by a comforting layer of vanilla cream with just a touch of lemon, aniseed, and mint. The texture is substantial, immersive, sweet, and creamy, yet it's not at all syrupy or overly rich. Vanilla and a mild creamy spiciness remain in the aftertaste. A delightful cream liqueur that possesses complexity and sweetness but avoids becoming too rich after repeated sips. I truly enjoy cream liqueurs but find many of them to be unrefined or overly sweet. This one, conversely, is wonderfully hard to define, requiring repeated tastings to fully understand the palate. It's easily among the best cream liqueurs I've encountered. It's excellent chilled straight from the refrigerator as a digestif, pairs well with coffee (or in it), and is also a great ingredient for cooking. A companion added a small amount to some vanilla muffins she was baking, and it was a superb combination. We used at least half our bottle mixed with mascarpone cheese to create a topping for fresh raspberries, resulting in a simple yet divine dessert. If you appreciate cream liqueurs, I can strongly suggest purchasing a bottle of this. We just finished ours and immediately ordered another. “Excellent”: 88/100 (4.5 stars)
