A terrible year... yes 1983. Eleven distilleries were tragically shut down. Unbelievably, one corporation, DCL, was behind the closure of nine of them. The distillery site is now primarily apartments. Just 164 of these bottles exist, and I had the chance to taste one. Fortunate me, considering a bottle now costs hundreds of dollars, if you can even find one:-). Having consumed a significant amount of whiskey and favoring robust, intense flavors, I find this exceptional for its ethereal and subtle yet impeccably composed character. Frequently, older spirits surpass their peak and become flawed; this one, however, is like a skilled acrobat, delicately poised on a very narrow, elevated wire. I give it a 5.
