Springbank 19 Year Single Cask Refill Bourbon

Nose - fruity, salty, very alcoholic, and there's a significant amount of really prominent oak. It leans heavily into citrus with perhaps some sugar cookie notes. Taste - creamy, vanilla, oak, salt, citrus. Intense, huge even. The texture coats the mouth. Adding water really enhances the sweetness, almost completely changing the sweet profile. Now I'm detecting more baked goods. This is a prime example of new make spirit from Springbank that has spent considerable time in a very tired oak barrel. The overall impression is that of an excellent sipping dram. I can't praise this enough for those who prefer no wine cask influence. It's slightly sour and the oak levels are a bit high. An extremely complex whisky for those who appreciate many elements that I believe are acquired tastes.
