Spirit of Hven Seven Stars No.2 Merak

Hmm... I'm uncertain if it's because previous drinks have made me more forgiving or if I'm sampling more highly-rated spirits, but I've had a good run tonight. I've traveled across the globe tonight, from New Zealand/USA, USA/New Zealand, back to the USA, over to Islay, and now to... Sweden. Okay, going in blind. Light smoke, sweet vanilla (from newer ex-bourbon casks), light body (younger spirit)... did I guess correctly? Hmm, okay, 6 years old, peated... check. Limited run of 25 casks... random side note, cask type... 1/3rd correct American, Spanish, and French... interesting! To be fair to the distillery, I did select a highly-rated bottling, so it might not represent all their work, but it's still a nice effort. The aftertaste is light, the spirit is balanced, but after the Widow Jane bourbon, it's not as satisfying. Still a decent job.
