Spey River Rum Cask Finish

It's passable. It's quite unremarkable except for the rum cask finish. It begins with caramel and oak, a slight spice and cherry note, finishing with molasses and brown sugar. It's a bit sharp and spicy. It would be suitable for someone new to scotch, but there are many superior options available.

Hints of cherry and wood spice emerge. The taste is rich and sweet, with more cherry, spiced oak, and a faint leather smoke. The finish is brief and smooth. Consumed neat.

An acceptable scotch. However, like all cask finished scotches I've encountered, the cask flavor is elusive.

Without the rum, this would be practically flavorless. Not much is going on.

Cherry. Vanilla on the nose. A bit muted on the palate, then a lingering spicy finish.

The aroma is sharp, with a spicy heat and a sweet finish that lingers.
