Nose: Floral, citrus, a light hairspray scent, gorse, and heather. Palate: Caramel, citrus, and orange. A slightly sour note is detected, along with black pepper, gristy barley, and tinned pears. Sweetness from honey is present. Finish: The finish is medium to long. It's darker than the palate, with notes of brown sugar, baking spices, tobacco, leather, and oak/ash. A dark sourness lingers on the aftertaste. Honeyed, fruity, and spicy. A touch of sourness on the finish. It's quite peppery behind the fruit and becomes darker as it rests on the palate. This is a pleasant dram, but the sour notes detracted slightly. It tied for second place out of the six drams, earning 20% of the votes for favorite of the night. 80% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky.
