Sortilège Prestige 7 Year Canadian Whisky & Maple Syrup Liqueur

The color is a deep bronze amber with hints of rose. The nose is intensely sweet, like maple syrup. The whisky characteristics are very subtle, almost undetectable, as if you're drinking a sweet liqueur – which is fitting, given the company's primary product. The taste is much the same: a rich, sugary maple syrup with some honey; the underlying whisky is nearly imperceptible. The finish is even sweeter – the whisky leaves a gritty sensation on your teeth, like drinking a sweet carbonated beverage. It also lingers, making you wish you were drinking a single malt to escape this sugary ordeal. This would be a great choice for someone who doesn't typically enjoy whiskies but wants something that tastes sweet and is easy to drink without needing to discern complex flavors. It's likely best suited for younger, party-going crowds.

Tastes of maple syrup, of course, rye, cinnamon, pepper, oak. Nice mouthfeel, it's potent yet smooth at the same time. Much better than the original version.

I'm definitely biased because I adore maple syrup. When compared to the original Sortilege, their ratings are practically identical.

More complex than Sortilege Classic, and the first-press maple syrup flavor is very noticeable.

Far too sweet. It needs to be less intense. It might work as a mixer for cocktails.
