Blackwater Spirits, situated on Kent Island in Maryland's Chesapeake Bay, produces and bottles Sloop Betty Vodka. This spirit is a blend of two neutral spirits, one derived from organic wheat and the other from organic sugarcane, in an 80% to 20% ratio respectively. After blending, it is filtered and diluted to 80 proof. The name honors the sloop Betty, a merchant vessel laden with Madeira wine captured by Blackbeard near Cape Charles in the early 18th century.
