The aroma leads with overripe tomato, stone fruits, and campfire smoke. There's a mineral/vegetal note reminiscent of mezcal. The palate immediately suggests mezcal (something I've never encountered in a whisky) with a warm, smoky hit that shifts into a peppery rye. Dark red, burnt BBQ ends help round out the palate. The finish is quite long with a dry, peppery beef jerky character. This is not your typical scotch.
