Silver Grove Barrel Proof Straight Rye (2024 Release)

AROMA Full, oily rye grains, intense mint, black pepper, with hints of citrus, caraway, and oak. TAS TE Immediate cinnamon spiciness, a touch of vanilla and toasted toffee. Delightfully bold, complex oak and rye flavors. FINISH Robust rye spice with pleasant minerality and eucalyptus. Fades with a spicy yet mouth-cooling finish. Additional details from New Riff: 2024 marks the first edition of Silver Grove Rye. For this bottling, we examined whiskey aging processes, using barrels from the top two floors of our five-story rickhouse in Newport, Kentucky. Aging in the hottest part of the warehouse resulted in intense flavors and a slightly elevated proof of 116.4. Like all New Riff spirits, Silver Grove Rye is bottled without chill filtration. For a standard New Riff Bottled in Bond Whiskey, we carefully combine barrels from various batches stored throughout the rickhouse, aiming for a consistent "New Riff style" in each release. For the 2024 Silver Grove Rye, we emphasized the extreme conditions of the upper floors. Barrels aged in the highest parts of the warehouse have a higher proof, appear darker/richer, and possess more intense, elevated, and concentrated flavors, particularly in terms of spice and rich wood notes. This 2024 release is our only barrel-strength Rye blend to date. SILVER GROVE Silver Grove Rye is exclusively available at the New Riff Distillery Gift Shop and The Aquifer Tasting Room. It really depends on your expectations for a Rye. At first, it presented like a root beer float. Later, it transformed into a caramel, mint, and spice explosion. The proof is spot on. An amazing pour.
