Silver Grove Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon (2024 Release)

I'll use New Riff's descriptions as they fit perfectly! APPEARANCE Deep, thick, dark amber hue. NOSE Red fruit and rye spice dominate, leading to aged oak with whispers of vanilla and cinnamon. TASTE A full, deep mouthfeel, transitioning briefly to dark brown sugars, then woody spices and tannins. FINISH Lingering, with spicy oak and rye, accompanied by preserved berries and a dry, peppery end. For the 2024 Silver Grove Bourbon, we investigated whiskey aging, utilizing barrels from the top two levels of our five-story rickhouse in Newport, Kentucky. This upper-level aging resulted in potent flavors and a proof of 116.2. Like all New Riff spirits, Silver Grove Bourbon is bottled without chill filtration. Typically, for a New Riff Bottled in Bond Whiskey, we combine barrels from various batches stored throughout the rickhouse to achieve a consistent "New Riff style" for each release. The 2024 Silver Grove Bourbon emphasizes the extreme conditions of the higher floors. Barrels aged exclusively on the upper levels present with a higher proof, appear richer and darker, and possess more intense, elevated, and concentrated flavors, particularly in spiciness and rich wood notes. Last year's 2023 Silver Grove was our inaugural barrel strength blend, and the 2024 edition continues this, being our only barrel strength Bourbon blend to date.
