A friend shared a picture of this, and while the bottle and artwork are quite appealing, I wasn't convinced by just any random gin. That changed when the botanicals were revealed, suggesting a perfect welcome to autumn with its prominent floral notes and crisp apple finish. As I'm always seeking other enjoyable gins (though my preference is for navy strength, a pursuit that has proven fruitless), the blend of familiar and unique botanicals promised a distinct gin experience, and I hoped it would be a positive one. I can detect a distinct juniper and floral aroma from a distance, but nothing specific stands out yet. This impression is confirmed upon smelling the glass directly, revealing plentiful juniper and a solid base, with noticeable florality, though no more than in other similar dry gins. If anything is different, there's a slight hint of warmth, with the cardamom being somewhat detectable. It has a light body, and despite its many floral botanicals, its lightness is primarily due to the low proof. The taste is notably bitter and dry, which enhances the floral notes. While somewhat blended, some citrus oils are apparent, along with a touch of honey, though not in a sweet manner. The cardamom and other warmer botanicals are the least prominent, overshadowed by the florals, but they do surface slightly on the finish. Therefore, in terms of meeting expectations based on the botanicals and anticipated taste, it falls below average and was a bit of a letdown. However, it stands out as one of the driest gins I've encountered recently, with a well-defined flavor profile that London dry gins often lack. I'm not inclined to drink it neat, but I am quite eager to use it in simpler mixed drinks, adding a subtle yet discernible complexity to gin & tonics and martinis.
