This barrel, aged and selected from the top floor, really stands out. The color is a deep amber/brown, visually much darker than a 5-year-old. The nose presents an immediate aroma of BBQ sauce, cherry wood smoke, and dark earth. The alcohol hits the palate first, followed by the BBQ notes. It evokes a sweet vinegar reminiscent of Kansas City style. The finish is slightly peppery with hints of charcoal, cherry, and smoked pork ribs coated in sauce. A very thematic profile, yet quite delicious. This barrel was chosen from Green River Distillery. All their selections I've encountered, despite being young, have been commendable.
