Local distilleries can produce unique flavor profiles; this one originates from a small-batch producer in Germany's Black Forest. It's yeasty, somewhat dusty, and clearly young. The aroma presents citrus and tart grapes, reminiscent of a semi-dry white wine. The taste is oily, bitter-dry, and has an astringent floral note, much like a fruit brandy. Was this spirit aged in former wine barrels? It's quite fiery on the edges, with a brief finish that fades with tartness and hints of woody bitterness.
