William Farris 2.0

From a sample at the Summerton Virtual Whisky Festival. This is the “Maiden Voyage” edition. The primary component is Caol Ila, blended with some Bunnahabhain, and spirits from Mull, Orkney, and an unspecified ‘coastal’ distillery (though the owner eventually confirmed it was a white label ‘teaspoon’ Ailsa Bay). This blended malt is not bad. Overall, it has a pronounced sherry influence, with a significant fruit impact layered over light smoky oak. The finish is brief, featuring some chocolate and a touch of vanilla. It's acceptable, but nothing more. The Islay character is definitely present, but personally, I would favor one of the Islay malts over this expression.

Kenzie Haywood 2.5

Not really my preference as I favor sweet whisky, BUT this is by far the most enjoyable smoky whisky I've experienced. It has a light smoke, not the medicinal quality of some peated whiskies. Being a blend, it's actually smooth and balanced. It has a slight coastal saltiness.
