This California spirit from Savage & Cooke is distilled, aged, and bottled on-site. The maker, known for wine, applied his flavor expertise to whiskey, making it quite Zinfandel-like. I bought this bottle in September 2024 for under $60 and have really enjoyed it; tonight, I'm finishing it up. This is a cask strength release at 56.5% ABV (113 Proof). The mash bill is 66% corn, 30% rye, and 4% malted barley. Jordan Via is the Master Distiller. It's finished in Zinfandel barrels, adding a fruity character that combines with a smoky, spicy bourbon profile. Think red berries mingling with a smoky, spicy bourbon BBQ. This is my first review, so be kind but truthful. I want to learn, taste, share, and build this community with fellow whiskey enthusiasts. If you liked the atmosphere, the drink, or my attempt at saying "Zinfandel" correctly, please comment, subscribe, and share this channel with friends who appreciate whiskey or are curious about it. Your support is greatly appreciated as we embark on this journey. I'll continue pouring as long as you keep watching. Until next time, remain bold, savor each sip, and may your glass always be mostly full. Blessings and cheers from Belmont!

This whiskey has a mineral quality I associate with spirits from my local Columbus, Ohio distillery. The aroma carries a pleasing musty funk, likely from the used Zin barrel. Initially, I detect the aforementioned minerality, followed by a smooth mouthfeel that leads to subtle apple and grape must notes in the finish.
