Hornitos Plata Tequila

A respectable tequila that I typically use for cocktails, but sampling it neat revealed it's quite good! I detected notes of traditional agave, similar to a honey flavor, with hints of apple and perhaps citrus. It has a fairly smooth finish, quite enjoyable if you wish to avoid a harsh burn. I would purchase it again. While I might not specifically choose it as a sipping tequila, if I were in a bind with limited options, this would certainly be a safe bet!

I enjoy the peppery palate and the combination of fruity, oily, rich, and smooth flavors. The finish is short and pleasant. It's not as smooth neat as El Jimador Blanco, but Hornitos makes a better cocktail, similar to how a higher rye bourbon might. While Weller is smoother neat, Bulleit creates a superior Old Fashioned.

The aroma consists of agave, citrus, and a hint of white pepper. These same notes are present on the palate. It has a light mouthfeel. While it seriously lacks complexity, its comparative smoothness offers some compensation. Rated 2.25 out of 5.00 – Mediocre (neat)

Compared to the Reposado, it's less salty and less tart. It exhibits more of a sherry-barrel influence, contributing a bitter tannic quality. Salt is noticeable in the finish, but it's much less tart overall.

A bit of burn going down, not terrible, but I'd say just average overall.

Smooth and not overwhelming. For its price, it's my preferred tequila choice.
