Have you ever laid eyes on this exceptionally stunning bottle? This is a Secret South Islay (Ardbeg, Lagavulin or Laphroaig) special Sansibar edition. Sansibar is a German whisky vendor renowned for their extremely high-end releases. A 10-year expression, distilled in 2013, aged in an Oloroso Sherry Hogshead, which gives the whisky its reddish hue. Bottled at 53.2% alcohol by volume. On the nose, I detect a gorgeous perfumed smoke, magnificent red jam; candied oranges. A very crisp, succulent cherry, coffee. So sweet, marvelous. This is a sugary sweet gummy bear, yet it also carries the scent of cigar smoke. Incredible. A perfect rating here. The palate is dominated by red marmalade, Red fruits, and very tart oranges. Aftertaste begins with a beautiful smoke; scorched grass, tobacco. Delicious. Overall, this had the potential to be a perfect whisky and was incredibly enjoyable. I truly found the ideal harmony between the Oloroso sherry profile and the Islay smoke in here. My rating for this wonderful dram is 97 out of 100.
