For those who appreciate Canadian whisky, this could be a suitable alternative. It's very sweet and mild, with some spice on the finish (perhaps from rye content?), but is priced moderately compared to the top-tier Canadian spirit. I don't detect much bourbon character and would prefer more transparency regarding its origin, but given that it's American whiskey, that's unlikely to happen.

The aroma is very sweet, almost like rum. However, I like it a lot. The ethanol isn't overwhelming. The taste and finish echo some of those rum characteristics, but I just had the rum-aged Barrell, and this doesn't approach that level of rumminess. The Barrell had coconut notes; this one has peach. I'm curious to sample the older expressions, but this one is quite excellent for its cost.
The aroma is of syrup and fruit. It hits the palate smoothly, with an oily, syrupy texture. Following the fruit flavor, it becomes spicy, concluding with a black pepper-like spice, yet it's sweet. Both the fruity taste and the tingling sensation linger for about a minute. The finish is somewhat oily.
This merits a higher score than sixty-three. It's sweet from corn, with a simple caramel flavor and a bit of spice. The aroma lacks ethanol. Enjoy its easy-drinking nature on a cool evening and save your single barrel selections for another occasion.
A satisfying drink. Those with a fixation on a spirit's history might not appreciate it. I prefer it neat, and the elevated alcohol content is a welcome addition.
A robust, sweet, and spicy impact. Perfect for outdoor fires and chilly weather. This is what old-fashioned American whiskey means to me.
