Macie Brock 4.5

I immediately noticed nice, sticky, and viscous legs on the glass right away. Usually a good sign. The nose was very pleasant but didn't overwhelm with potency. It was, however, packed with brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, leather, and mint. Plenty of baking spices were apparent, along with back notes of lemon and peach. A very complex nose. First off, this is chewy and coats the mouth. Beautiful, supple mouthfeel and great proof. Oak permeates every other flavor in this bourbon positively. Brown sugar appears after the oak, followed by vanilla, wood varnish, cherry cola, and leather. The finish has good length, but the flavor fades to muted notes a bit too quickly for me to consider it elite. It's mostly oak and brown sugar still, which is pleasant and doesn't dry out the mouth. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this. I received it as a gift and didn't know much about it. I still can't find much on the actual spirit, but the owner...kind of ran a winery in Burgundy but seemed to have to walk away in some shame. Well, kudos to this barrel.

Odysseus Barrel I absolutely adore the aroma of this. Much milder on the nose than the 7yr More fruit-forward, light oak, more refined butterscotch Tasting: finished with rye, licorice, fruit notes don't carry through. Much more balanced than the 7 year With one ice cube: significantly more decadent, chocolate, faint cinnamon and honey... delicious, far more balanced. The oak isn't overpowering.

To be honest, this was one of the later drinks I sampled at the venue, so my memory is hazy. However, I don't recall it being particularly noteworthy for its cost.
