About this bottle

This represents Sagamore Spirit's initial Bottled in Bond rye and is the first release entirely created at its Baltimore facility, aged for four years in a nearby rickhouse. It comprises a combination of two straight rye whiskies: one with a high-rye mash bill and another with a low-rye mash bill, utilizing the distillery's established recipe from 2016. The rye adheres to Bottled in Bond regulations, bottled at 100 proof from a single distillation season. Availability was limited as of November 2021.

Fern Stokes 4.0

The scent is mild and pleasant, with hints of cinnamon and a bright woodsy character. A sweetness of caramel emerges. The first sip is sharp with rye spice, but not overpowering. It has notes of tobacco and leather, along with more caramel and some deep red fruit. The lingering heat on the finish, which comes with the 50% bottling, is full and dense but not excessively oily. A great addition to the Sagamore lineup, and considerably better than their signature rye.

Shayna Houck 2.5

Smell: subtle rye spice, fruit, vanilla, and brightness Taste: persistent spice notes throughout, some baking spice, a noticeable oak presence, and a short finish. Hopefully, their own distilled spirit improves with age, or they become better at distilling and blending batches.

Pasquale Shore 4.0

Honeyed granola aroma. A burst of herbal rye. Eucalyptus. Sweetened grains. A moderate, dry, warm finish.
