The aroma is truly amazing, beginning with fruity rye spice, burnt wood, vanilla, molasses, and leather, along with smoke. It all creates an incredible richness and depth that was frankly surprising for this. It's sometimes difficult to know what to expect from a six-year American whiskey, but this is exceptional. The nose truly sets a high bar, and the taste will hopefully measure up. The palate is dry but substantial and complete, saturating the mouth with strong baking spice, burnt wood, and rye spice. This whiskey's core is its spice, and it delivers it in an astonishing manner. The intensity doesn't overpower you; instead, the flavors feel like elements to discover and appreciate. Ultimately, the flavor profile is quite straightforward, which makes it accessible in a delightful and uncomplicated way. It mellows slightly with air, but that initial spice blast persists and remains a highlight. The finish is lengthy and spicy, leaving a tingling sensation and a mouth full of rye spice and dark chocolate. As the palate fades, it retains notes of burnt wood, vanilla, and baking spices.
