The aroma is intricate, featuring vanilla, green apple, honey, grapefruit zest, and a hint of sea spray. Allowing it to rest reveals apricot, melon, and unripe pear. The palate includes vanilla, honey, saltwater brine, and green apple. I find its character improves significantly with extended aeration. I did not add water, expose it to cold, or use ice, but I anticipate the profile would transform considerably under those conditions. Nose: 4/5 Taste: 3.75/5 Overall: 3.75/5 Repurchase: NO (It's allocated in my region, and I don't believe it warrants the price tag). Occasion: Special Event

Nose: Initially, a touch of ethanol sharpness is present but it mellows with time. A few drops of water also help it along. Notes of apple, honey, grains, a faint herbal touch, oak, and perhaps sandalwood as others have mentioned. A hint of vanilla and cherry might also be detected. Palate: Superior to the nose. Exhibits a mild sweetness, apple, honey, barrel spices, black pepper, woody oak, a subtle smokiness, and a pleasant herbal character on the finish. It's a respectable pour, though in my opinion, not a standout Japanese whisky. Still, it offers enough uniqueness compared to scotch to appeal to some.

Lenore Brantley 3.8

The nose presents oak, apple, umami, sandalwood, and cherry. The palate offers oak, mild smoke, black pepper, cherry, and a hint of vanilla, followed by a peppery finish.

Millard Sylvester 3.5

Very smooth, though I'm simply not a fan of scotch. It's not my preferred choice, but I can easily understand why others would greatly enjoy it.

The scent brings butter and vanilla. The taste is sweet, woody, with hints of stale bread and wood.

This brings to mind my great great grandfather who served in the war.
