Rye Harbor Vodka

I'm genuinely very impressed with this corn vodka. Finding details online is tough; it seems it was first listed as coming from New Hampshire, but later government records show it based in California. How strange. Yet, these facts don't matter when the product is this good. It has a remarkably easy-to-approach smell of sweet corn, with just the slightest hint of ethanol. It doesn't assault the nose with alcohol fumes, nor does it possess a distinct "dusty grain" scent. While there isn't a lot of complexity, this might just be the most pleasant-smelling corn vodka I've had the pleasure to experience. There's even a touch of butteriness that nicely completes the aroma. It smells unpretentious and approachable while maintaining its neutrality. Most importantly, this vodka has an amazing sweet corn flavor that lasts throughout the entire palate. You aren't hit with any bitterness or unpleasant ethanol sting. It's simply the sweetness of corn vodka with hardly any of its drawbacks. This is the very definition of straightforward, and when it's this nicely sweet, it almost resembles sweet corn on the cob, so who can object? I still find wheat vodka to be better, but from now on, Rye Harbor Vodka will be my go-to corn vodka for when a cocktail requires more pronounced sweetness, as well as my preferred shot vodka. This stuff is truly smooth with minimal burn. On that note, its texture is somewhat oily compared to other corn-based vodkas. Think of Tito's as a comparison.
