I believe this is due to the distillate itself with mild cask influence, as the color was quite pale. Everything here is well-balanced, with no unpleasant notes, and it's quite enjoyable. About this bottle
Part of the Flora & Fauna series, which highlights single malts from less prominent distilleries, this is a twelve-year-old whisky from the Rosebank Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands, which is currently inactive. Rosebank ceased operations in 1993 during a downturn in whisky sales; its owner at the time, United Distillers (which later formed Diageo through a merger), prioritized the more cost-effective and visually appealing Glenkinchie. Rosebank's characteristic style is a result of traditional triple distillation for the Lowlands region, and it is frequently regarded as an excellent example of a Lowland malt. The bottling strength is 43% ABV.

Arguably the most renowned expression in the Flora & Fauna series, Rosebank 12 is now a scarce find. Fresh, delicate, and complex, its aroma captivates with notes of yellow fruits, blossom honey, and subtle hints of chamomile. Red currants, kiwi, and corn flakes emerge on the palate. Initially creamy, floral, and slightly astringent, the taste evolves towards barley sugar, honeydew melon, and tart tangerines. Mint leaves, woody spices, and a touch of white wine accompany the crisp and refined finish. Only time will reveal if the 'new' Rosebank can match the quality of this iconic malt.
