About this bottle

Rogue Farms Oregon Single Malt Whiskey utilizes Rogue Farms' own Risk malting barley and a unique PacMan yeast. This spirit undergoes a three-month ocean-aging process in oak barrels and is then bottled at a 40% alcohol by volume.

I suspect this is identical to Chatoe Rogue from Oregon, but I cannot locate a listing for it. Regardless, I will review it here. Smells like sour mash. Sweet, exceptionally sweet even for a rye. Seems somewhat unpolished. Nevertheless, it functions as intended.

I'm impressed by the flavor profile achieved in such a short time. It's a solid introduction to single malt Scotch. It's smooth and sweet, with a pleasing finish that gradually disappears.

Tastes like saltwater. I attended a whisky tasting and spoke with their representative, who acknowledged that some early batches were terrible. Frankly, I don't believe it warrants another attempt.

I was certainly let down, as I love the Dead Guy Whiskey. Nose: Quite sour. Palate: The redeeming quality. Surprisingly sweet, with caramel notes and smooth. Finish: Very bitter.

I didn't try this particular one – I had their Rye. I didn't care for it; it tasted like tequila.

Ruthie Crabtree 4.0

Enjoyed at the venue. Smooth, light, easy to drink, with caramel notes.
