The palate has a bittersweet tobacco flavor, but the finish is a little hot and sweet. I'm not sure why it's not rated higher, but during a whisky tasting, I kept returning to Wiser's Legacy and Johnnie Walker Select Rye Casks.
The aroma is heavy with wood and caramel. The palate feels lively, almost carbonated. The taste mirrors the aroma, featuring wood, caramel, and possibly a hint of smoke. The finish is woody and somewhat dry.
A lot of char was detected on the nose, and even after that, the peatiness surprised me. As it warms, some caramel sweetness emerges with a lengthy, warm finish.
4.0. A fantastic smoky, woody aroma from the oak barrels. The taste was sweet. The finish had an unexpected hint of corn. I'd say it's worth the cost.
Aromatic nose with smoky, woody notes. The taste confirmed this. It's sweet, yet light and quite smooth. I really enjoyed it when I sampled it at the distillery.
Woody, a touch smoky, and pleasantly malty. Abundant taste, yet not particularly zesty. Lovely amber hue.
