The aroma presents unspiced baked green apples, pears, kale, baked vanilla, and a clean scent reminiscent of fresh linens. On the palate, spices finally emerge, starting with well-cooked baking spices and candied fruits. Notes of steeped flowers and white grapes, lemon, and beeswax are present. The finish is of medium length with spiced apple, acidic white grapes, and meringue. It's appealing, though it feels like it could benefit from a bit more flair.

About this bottle
In 1860, Pierre Groult initiated the distillation of his cider and maturation of the eau de vie in oak barrels, establishing a five-generation legacy of production in the Normandy village of Saint-Cyr du Ronceray. Under the current direction of Jean-Roger Groult, their Calvados continues to be double-distilled in wood-fired pot stills. Their cider, made from 30 apple varieties, undergoes fermentation and rests on its lees for a full year prior to the initial distillation. Post-final distillation, the eau de vie matures in large barrels, many exceeding 100 years in age, which are never completely emptied. Bottling takes place on the estate without chill filtration.

It's ideal for educators – because it features apple, you see. Apple on the nose, apple in the taste, a subtly dry apple finish with just enough earthiness to prevent palate fatigue. Very easy to enjoy.
A solid Calvados throughout.
