Branden Spann 3.0

I'm now trying the second of three Rivergreen ready-to-drink options from their variety pack. This one is my top pick and how I initially got into Rivergreen. Crafting a quality gimlet requires little complexity, much like other simple cocktails such as an old fashioned or martini, but the quality of the gin is paramount. Given that the specific gin isn't disclosed, it's reasonable to infer it's either acquired externally or produced as economically as possible, which is common for many ready-to-drink beverages and their spirit components. As sugar can be incorporated through numerous methods, provided the lime element is fresh and good, a decent gimlet can be achieved. The aroma is distinctly characterized by sweet lime, yet not artificially so, possessing a fresh and tart scent. The gin offers notes of vibrant juniper and subtle floral undertones, but it is significantly overshadowed by the lime. As anticipated, the taste is led by sweet lime, though not in the style of Rose's. Instead, it presents as a less-than-premium simple syrup combined with lime juice that, while fairly fresh, may originate from concentrate. The gin component is rather abrasive, with notes reminiscent of cleaning agents being the initial and most prominent flavor, unfortunately lingering until the end. Despite allowing this beverage a few minutes to rest in the glass while I prepared, there is virtually no evidence of prior carbonation. Even though the gin in this and all Rivergreen ready-to-drink products is quite subpar, this particular offering is the most invigorating of all their selections to date. It effectively satisfies the craving for a gin cocktail, encouraging further consumption. While a genuine gimlet is not typically effervescent, the presence of carbonation was advertised, and I would have preferred more bubbles to enhance its liveliness. However, for a convenient gin drink, purchasing an inexpensive pack of just these gimlets would not lead to dissatisfaction.
