About this bottle

Revolution Spirits, based in Austin, Texas, added Amico Amaro to its product line in 2017. This amaro, meaning "bitter friend," is created in a style similar to Campari or Aperol, incorporating twelve botanicals that are fully disclosed by the distillery. These include hibiscus, sumac, cedar, orange peel, gentian root, cinchona bark, Apollo hops, witch hazel leaf, blessed thistle, damiana, cranberry, and fennel. This release is notable as the first amaro to be launched in the state of Texas.

Tasted and smelled using two medium ice cubes. Smell: intensely bitter orange and wormwood. Cedar and hops are also detected. Licorice and a faint dill are present as well. The smell becomes spicier after the initial taste. Taste: Quite sweet with a strong, spicy, and bitter end. Intense bitter citrus flavors. The finish is lengthy and dry. Somewhere between Aperol and Campari. Might work better as a substitute for Aperol instead of Campari.
